Preparation of documentation
Job scheduling: your system needs to run various automated background jobs that consume resources. Your administrator must carefully schedule these tasks when user demand is low so they don't impact performance.

The SAP basis as an organisational unit within a growing IT organisation is facing far-reaching changes. The growing number of technologies and the growing need for integration and collaboration with upstream and downstream IT departments means that the SAP basis is constantly growing. Examples of organisational concepts and further information can be found in chapters 7.6 and 9.4 of the Master's thesis.
Hard skills and soft skills
The SAP Basis is responsible for the smooth operation of the programmes in the SAP system. It acts as an operating system for R/3 and subsequent releases including S/4HANA. Each operating system provides an environment in which programmes can run, such as MS Office on Microsoft Windows. Likewise, the SAP base system with the NetWeaver and HANA platform offers an environment in which the SAP programmes can run. In this context, the NetWeaver platform itself relies on server operating systems such as Windows and Linux.

SAP Basis is also known as module BC or application Basis. In this context, SAP Basis refers to all transactions, programs and objects that control the functions of the overall system. This includes, among other things, user and authorization management as well as the configuration of interfaces via RFC.

"Shortcut for SAP Systems" is a PC application that simplifies or even facilitates many activities in the SAP basis.

Hosting environments and third-party offerings have also contributed to these improvements.

Understanding the structure and functioning of the system is especially important for IT administration. It is not for nothing that "SAP Basis Administrator" is a separate professional field. On the page www.sap-corner.de you will find useful information on this topic.

User administration no longer has to be administered separately for each system, but only in a single point of administration.
