You must enable a role that you have created as a Design-Time object in the Design Time Repository before it can be associated with a user. To do this, use Project Explorer to select the role you want to enable and select Team > Activate from the shortcut menu. This will create a runtime object of this selected SAP HANA role. This object is also understood as a catalogue object and is incorporated in the Roles branch in the corresponding SAP HANA system.

Even more critical is the assignment of the comprehensive SAP® standard profile SAP_ALL, which contains almost all rights in the system. The handling of the emergency user should also be specified in the authorization concept, which should be documented in writing. In any case, the activities of the emergency user should be logged and checked regularly. Therefore, it is essential in preparation for the annual audit to check the current, as well as the historical, assignments of SAP_ALL. It is therefore not sufficient to simply quickly remove the SAP_ALL profile from users in the run-up to the annual audit. It must also be proven that the SAP_ALL profile was not briefly assigned for a few days over the audit period. If SAP_ALL assignments did occur, ideally these have already been documented and checked. If this is not the case, it is essential to create documentation that cannot be changed, in which it is proven why the assignment was necessary and that the user has not carried out any critical actions beyond this (filing and review of logging).

If you want to set up a new client or take over the movement data of the productive system in a development system, you should also consider the modification documents. If you have a client copy, you should first delete the indexing of the change documents (table SUIM_CHG_IDX), since you can restore the indexing after the copy. To do this, use the SUIM_CTRL_CHG_IDX report without selecting a date and check the Reset Index box. After the copy has been made, delete the change documents that are dependent on the client; This also applies to the client-independent change documents (e.g., proposed permissions, table logs) if you have copied the client to a new system. In addition, you should remove the shadow database alterations before copying the client and complete the index build after the copy. In any case, check the Reset Index box in the SUIM_CTRL_CHG_IDX report!
